This is my entry for the photography discipline of the Amsterdam Student Festival. It is a series of five photographs of draperies in a small format (10 x 15 cm, 4 x 6 inches) to emphasize the “cosy” effect of the draperies.
Wandering around town looks sometimes dwell from the street into the houses and we are faced with a variety of draperies. Draperies are not only functional to prevent people from looking into your house but they also serve a decorative function. We find draperies in places such as former working-class quarters like the Staatsliedenbuurt in Amsterdam where three of the five pictures were taken, but also in more rural areas. This series originated from a fascination for the enormous variety and sometimes exuberant use of draperies.
