The Software Studies approach indeed approaches the history of computing from a specific angle, or in my specific approach takes it into account when studying software.

Unfortunately the online collaboration site is (according to my knowledge as I reside in Amsterdam and not in San Diego where the Software Studies Institute is located) not actively being developed right now. The best place to keep up-to-date is at the Software Studies Lab.

Nice review. I've been thinking of the importance of "computer history" as a field of study a lot lately, and it sounds like the software studies approach comes from a unique angle. Any updates on the "online collaboration" site?
